History Still Rhymes
The biggest irony is that Khachatur Abovian, the Armenian educator, scientist, writer, visionary and advocate for modernization, disappeared at the age of 39 in 1848 and I was intentionally harmed at the age of 38.
200 years have passed since Abovian, but nothing has changed in the life experience of someone born with this phenotype. Ray Dalio would say, another one of those, because history rhymes.
When you are born with this phenotype, you are so far ahead of your time and so different, that no one can understand you or relate to you. If you don’t suppress and hide your identity, and if you don’t act stupid, many will try to harm you.
Steve Jobs, before returning to Apple, was once asked in an interview, if at times his team disagrees with him and is able to convince him.
He jokingly answered, no usually I am right, they just can’t understand what I am saying.
My life experience is such that every time when I disagreed with everyone in the room, I turned out to be right. That is how one develops conviction as a contrarian investor.
When I develop conviction, I am never wrong.
In 20 to 30 years, you will realize that everything I am saying, even if it sounds unconventional to you now, is right.
Just as all the finance and economics professors, who disagreed with me in the past, later realized that I was right.
Just as all the aerospace engineering professionals, who disagreed with me in the past, later realized that I was right.
Just as if any neuroscientists disagreed with me today, would realize that I was right.
I live in a world where my surrounding seems confused to me, because they can’t process what I can process and I have to figure out the best way to navigate that world.
Not an easy task to live in a world where no one around you is like you and you are not allowed to explain it. Good Will Hunting may be a fictional movie, but it is a real phenomenon.
And it has a cost.
Just in 2018:
- Elon Musk was attacked during Tesla’s troubles
- Kanye West was attacked during his health battle
- Avicii committed suicide
- Travis Kalanick was attacked during a family tragedy
- And I was intentionally harmed during my health battle (that crossed a line for me)
2018 should change history!
I wish someone would have done Genius Rights before me. Therefore, I want to start it.
Peter Thiel, in Zero to One says, courage is in shorter supply than genius.
I say, one genius has to show courage.
And what better person to do it than the person who understands the phenomenon of Genius in terms of neuroscience, psychology, behavior and life experience.
Geniuses are the most valuable natural resource.
We have animal rights, but we don’t have genius rights.
Genius Rights would positively change the trajectory of humanity.
